Another award for top trainer Markus Kirchner

Maritim Airport Hotel Hannover’s Executive Director Markus Kirchner is awarded the honour of “Distinguished Visiting Chef” by Johnson & Wales University in North Miami, USA.

In recognition of his involvement in the training of chefs, Markus Kirchner, Executive Director at the Maritim Airport Hotel Hannover, has been honoured by Johnson & Wales University as a “Distinguished Visiting Chef”. To date, this honour has been conferred on just 20 chefs worldwide. This is not the first award that the creative chef and passionate Harley Davidson fan Kirchner has received: the 41-year-old scooped gold and silver at the Culinary World Cup in 1990, the Master Prize of the Bavarian State Government in 1996, and was named top trainer of the year in 2006 by the editor of “Die Küche” magazine. This recognition for Kirchner is certainly well-deserved: in recent years, Lower Saxony’s best up-and-coming chef has come from his kitchen four times in a row. “Only with sound and solid training can a chef make it all the way to the top, which is why I attach great importance to talented young chefs who are keen to learn and who are dedicated to the cause,” says Kirchner when explaining his commitment as a trainer.

Upon completing his training as a chef, Kirchner worked in various hotels in Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland. In 1995, he joined the Maritim Airport Hotel Hannover, moving up the ranks quickly to become Head Chef, before assuming the role of Executive Director in 2005.
